Our ultimate mission is to study earthquake phenomenon scientifically, and to find out the ways to prevent and mitigate the disaster caused directly/indirectly by earthquakes.

Welcome to our website!

Our research includes the study on earthquake, seismic wave propagation, and earth's internal structure as a division of the earth science. We most recently conducted a study on the short-wavelength structural heterogeneities in the crust and the upper mantle that cause the scattering and attenuation of high-frequency seismic waves. Seismology, which deals with the scientific and engineering topics relating to earthquake phenomena, including such as strong ground motions and long-period motions, is a key earth science in Japan where the tectonic activity is very high.
